Caleb the son of Hezron. The ancestor of "Caleb the son of Jephunneh" (Num_13:6, Num_13:30; Num_14:6, Num_14:24; Num_32:12; Num_34:19. Jos_14:6, Jos_14:14), who is distinguished from this Caleb in 1Ch_4:15. This shows the present genealogy to be independent.
