This Chapter Verse Commentaries:

Let no man = Let not (Greek. me. App-105) any one (Greek. tis. App-123)

despise. Greek. exoutheneo. See Act_4:11. Compare 1Ti_4:12.

conduct . . . forth. Greek. propempo, as in 1Co_16:6.

look for. Greek. ekdechomai. See 1Co_11:33. Heb_10:13; Heb_11:10. 1Pe_3:20.

with. App-104. It is clear from these verses (10, 11) that the letter was not sent by Timothy. He had already departed (1Co_4:17), and as he was to travel by a circuitous route, he might not arrive till after the receipt of the letter. See Act_19:22. Paul was expecting him to be in time to return with the bearers of the letter, who were probably the three named in 1Co_16:17.
