the LORD God of hosts. First occurrence of this title. See App-4= Jehovah Elohim zeb'aoth. It occurs in 2Sa_5:10, but in narrative, not address. "The LORD (Jehovah) God (Elohim) of hosts" occurs only here in Kings and Chronicles. Often in Psalms (1Ki_59:6; 1Ki_69:6; 1Ki_80:4, 1Ki_80:19; 1Ki_84:8; 1Ki_89:8). In Isa_10:23, Isa_10:24; Isa_22:5, Isa_22:12, Isa_22:14, Isa_22:15; Isa_28:22. Jer_2:19; Jer_5:14; Jer_15:16; Jer_35:17; Jer_49:5; Jer_50:25, Jer_50:31. Hos_12:5. Amo_5:15. After the return from captivity "LORD of hosts" occurs fourteen times in Haggai; about fifty in Zechariah; and twenty-five in Malachi. But "LORD God of hosts" is not found in those books.
