let us not, &c. All the texts omit. They suddenly broke off. Perhaps the Pharisees were afraid to express their thoughts. It is the Figure of speech Aposiopesis. App-6. The words in the Authorized Version were probably added by some copyist from Act_5:39. adapting Gamaliel's language.
