speechless. Greek. enneos or eneos. Only here in N.T., but found in Septuagint Pro_17:28 (holdeth his peace) and Isa_56:10 (dumb).
hearing. The companions of Saul heard the sound of the voice, but did not distinguish the words spoken. Compare Act_22:9. This is expressed by the word "voice" (phone) being in the genitive case here, and in the accusative case in Act_9:4. Compare Joh_12:28-30.
