palaces: or fortresses. Hebrew. 'armon. Occurs (in plural) twelve times in Amos (see App-10): Amo_1:4, Amo_1:7, Amo_1:10, Amo_1:12, Amo_1:14; Amo_2:2, Amo_2:5; Amo_3:9, Amo_3:10, Amo_3:11; Amo_6:8; seven times with the verb "devour" (Hebrew. akal).

Ben-hadad. An official title of the Syrian kings = son of Hadad i.e. the sun-god. The Ben-hadad of 2Ki_13:3; not of 2Ki_8:7-15.
