He had "heard" (Rom_10:17) and believed what God had said to Abraham. Gen_12:7; Gen_15:18; Gen_13:14, Gen_13:15; Isa_26:3, Isa_26:4; Jam_28:13; Jam_35:12; Jam_48:1-4.
