The vile person. Some codices, with two early printed editions, Septuagint, and Syriac, read "And the", thus preserving the Figure of speech Polysyndeton (Isa_32:1).



vile person = fool. Hebrew. nabal. See note on Pro_1:7 and on 1Sa_25:3.



liberal = noble.



churl = miser, or covetous. Note the Alternation in verses: Isa_32:5-7 :
