Against = concerning.
Moab. Always hostile to Israel. Compare Jdg_3:12, Jdg_3:28; 1Sa_14:47. 2Sa_8:2. 2Ki_1:1; 2Ki_3:4-27; 2Ki_13:20. In the reign of Jehoiakim they joined with the Chaldeans.
thus saith. As in Num_21:28, Num_21:29; Num_24:17 (compare verses: Jer_48:45, Jer_48:46), and Amo_2:2.
the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel. See note on Jer_7:3.
the LORD. Hebrew. Jehovah. App-4.
Nebo. Not the mountain, but formerly a Reubenite possession (Num_32:37, Num_32:38), now belonging to Moab.
Kiriathaim. Now probably el Kureiyat, between Medeba and Dibon.
Misgab. Probably = the high fort.
