This Chapter Verse Commentaries:
was sick. Pointing to great weakness and exhaustion, the result of active disease, rather than the disease itself. The verb is used thirty-six times, gene- rally translated in the Gospels "sick", in Paul's Epistles "weak", but in Joh_5:3, Joh_5:7 "impotent".
