I have not spoken of Myself: i.e. from Myself. The Lord's constant claim was that His very words were what the Father had given Him to speak. Compare Joh_3:34; Joh_7:16-18; Joh_8:28, Joh_8:47; Joh_14:10, Joh_14:24; Joh_17:8, Joh_17:14.

speak. Greek. laleo. This word. which is very common in John's Gospel, and occurs eight times in this chapter, refers to the words in which the message
was delivered. See note above and next verse.
