hall of judgment. Greek praitorion. Latin. praetorium, the house of the Praetor. See Mar_15:16. Probably connected with the castle of Antonia, built by Herod the Great and named after Mark Antony. It was not Herod's palace, as is clear from Luk_23:7. Compare same word in Act_23:35. Php_1:1, Php_1:13.
