commanded . . . stoned. This law referred only to a "betrothed damsel "(Deu_22:24); and to show that the Lord knew their thoughts, and knew also that this was another man's "wife". He complied with the law prescribed in "such" a case (Num_5:11-31), and stooped down and wrote the curses (as required in Joh_8:23) on the ground.
