This Chapter Verse Commentaries:
Israel. Here the Septuagint supplies the words omitted by Homoeoteleuton (App-6) of the word "Israel, [when He destroyed them in Gibeon, and they were destroyed before the sons of] Israel".
Sun = the sun itself, because of what is said in the next verse.
stand thou still. Hab_3:11. This is not the only miracle in connection with the sun. See shadow going back (2Ki_20:11;. Isa_38:8). Going down at noon (Amo_8:9). No more going down (Isa_60:20), Darkened (Isa_13:10. Eze_32:7. Joe_2:10, Joe_2:31; Joe_3:13. Mat_24:29. Rev_6:12; Rev_8:12; Rev_9:2; Rev_16:8). Miracle to be again performed (Luk_23:44, Luk_23:45). His motion described (Psa_19:4-6).
