lovers: i.e. allies, whom she had preferred to Jehovah. See Jer_2:17, Jer_2:27, Jer_2:36, Jer_2:37; Jer_4:30; Jer_22:22. Eze 23; and Lam_29:6, Lam_29:7, Lam_29:16.
enemies. Especially the Edomites and Ammonites. Compare Jer_12:14.
