washed = the "divers washings" of Heb_6:2. After this, all ceremonial washings done by the persons for themselves. These are rendered "baptisms" in Septuagint of Lev_11:25, Lev_11:40; Lev_17:15, Lev_17:16; Lev_14:8; Lev_15:8, Lev_15:13, Lev_15:16, Lev_15:21, Lev_15:22, Lev_15:27. Extended to "clothes", Lev_11:25, &c.
