a den of thieves = a robbers' cave.
den = cave. Greek. spelaion. Occurs six times: Mat_21:13. Mar_11:17. Joh_11:38 (cave), Heb_11:38, and Rev_6:15.
thieves = robbers, or brigands. As in Joh_10:1, Joh_10:8; Joh_18:40 and 2Co_11:26, and should be so rendered in Mat_21:13; Mat_26:55; Mat_27:38, Mat_27:44, &c. Not kleptes = a thief.
