taken = pressed, or oppressed. Compare Act_28:8. Almostpeculiar to Luke, who uses the word nine times; only three times elsewhere, Mat_24:4. 2Co_5:14. Php_1:1, Php_1:23(being in a strait).
great. Peculiar to Luke, in this connection.
besought. Aorist Tense; implying a single act. Not the Imperfect, as generally used.
