are = are existing. Same word as "was" in Rom_4:19; "being "in Php_1:2, Php_1:6; and "is" in Php_1:3, Php_1:20.
delicately = luxuriously. The Herods were noted for this (Act_12:21. Mar_6:21. Josephus, Bel. Jud_1:20. § 3 ; Ant. xix. 8. 2).
kings' courts = royal palaces. Greek. Plural of basileion. Occurs only here in N.T.
