These verses are peculiar to Luke.
when the time was come = in (Greek. en. App-104.) the fulfilling of the days. Marking a certain stage of the Lord's ministry.
that He should be received up = for the receiving Him up. Greek. analepsis. Occurs only here in the N.T. The kindred verb analambano is used of the ascension of Elijah in Septuagint. (2Ki_2:11), and of the Lord in Mar_16:19. Act_1:2, Act_1:11, Act_1:22, and 1Ti_3:16.
he = He Himself.
set His face. See note on Luk_9:31, Isa_50:7.
