the dead = dead people. Not the same as in Mar_12:26. No Art. See App-139.
the living: i.e. those who live again in resurrection. See note on Mat_9:18. Therefore they must rise. This is the only logical conclusion of the Lord's argu ment. The whole subject is resurrection.
