arose = were waked. All the texts read "were raised". Is this the resurrection referred to in Rom_1:3? See notes there. Greek. egersis = awaking rousing up, or arising. Occurs only here. Compare Joh_12:24. They thus fulfilled the Lord's word in Joh_5:25.
