took . . . bare. The two words together fulfill the sense of the Hebrew (Isa_53:4). The Inspirer of Isaiah adapts and deals as He pleases with His own words.
bare = to take up for one's self; to bear our infirmities as in Luk_14:27. Rom_15:1. Gal_1:5, Gal_1:10; Gal_6:17. Compare Joh_4:6.
