and Aaron. These two words are dotted in the Hebrew. See App-31. The command was given to Moses alone (verses: Num_3:14, Num_3:15), and was carried out by him alone (Num_3:16). As Aaron took part, according to Num_1:3, Num_1:4, and Num_4:41, Num_4:45, Num_4:46, his name was included here by some ancient copyist; and later scribes dotted the words rather than leave them out.
