This Chapter Verse Commentaries:
the LORD said = Jehovah said. Hebrew. 'amar (not davar, spake), 'amar is followed by the words spoken, davar is not. This expression, Jehovah said, occurs eighteen "sundry times" and in five "divers manners" in this book of Numbers. Compare note on Num_1:1
(1) To Moses (alone), Num_3:40; Num_7:11; Num_11:16, Num_11:23; Num_12:14; Num_14:11; Num_15:35; Num_17:10; Num_21:8, Num_21:34; Num_26:4; Num_27:12, Num_27:18.
(2) To Aaron, Num_18:1.
(3) To Balaam, Num_23:5, Num_23:16.
(4) He said, Num_12:6.
(6) I Jehovah have said, Num_14:35.
With the fifty-six times "Jehovah spake" (See Num_1:1), these eighteen make seventy-four times, and sixteen manners. See note on Num_22:9, for "God said" (four times, making seventy-eight in all).
