tormented. Greek. basanizo, literally to test (metals) by the touchstone, then to torture. Occurs: Rev_11:10; Rev_12:2 (pained); Rev_14:10; Rev_20:10. See Mat_8:29. Mar_5:7. Luk_8:28. "Torment" is specially connected with demons.
five months. Compare the fixed periods of Num_11:19, Num_11:20; 2Sa_24:13; where the term is taken literally, as it should be here also. The period of locusts is five months: May-September. See Gen_7:24.
