This Chapter Verse Commentaries:

Thou art beautiful. Solomon breaks in as soon as the Shulamite called for her beloved (shepherd), as he did in Son_1:9.



my love = my friend. Hebrew. ra'yah. Feminine. See note on Son_1:9.



Tirzah. Became the royal residence of the kings of Israel after the division of the kingdom, until Omri built Samaria (1Ki_14:17; 1Ki_15:21, 1Ki_15:33; 1Ki_16:8, 1Ki_16:15, 1Ki_16:17). Compare Son_16:24. Tirzah means "delightful". Hence the flattering comparison.
