Jehovah Himself smites His hands together, doing what He had commanded Ezekiel to do (see on Eze 21:14), in token of His smiting Jerusalem; compare the similar symbolical action (2Ki 13:18, 2Ki 13:19).
cause ... fury to rest - give it full vent, and so satisfy it (Eze 5:13).
