Taking my leave (ἀποταξάμενος)

The verb means, primarily, to set apart or separate; hence to separate one's self, withdraw, and so to take leave of. The A.V. gives this sense in every case, except Mar 6:46, where it wrongly renders sent away. See Luk 9:61; Act 18:18, Act 18:21. Ignatius, ἀποτάξαμενος τῷ βίῳ having bid farewell to the life, that is, this lower life (Epistle to Philadelphia, 11).
