Of cruel mockings (ἐμπαιγμῶν)
N.T.o , oClass. Rare in lxx. Cruel is an insertion of A.V. Rend. “of mockings.” Ἐμπαιγμονὴ mockery (olxx, Class.) is found 2Pe 3:3 (note); and ἐμπαίκτης mocker or scoffer, 2Pe 3:3; Jud 1:18. Ἑμπαίζειν to mock is quite frequent in the Synoptic Gospels, and occurs also in lxx.
