This Chapter Verse Commentaries:
Our hope for you (hē elpis hēmōn huper humōn). The old word elpis, from elpizō, to hope, has the idea of waiting with expectation and patience. So here it is “steadfast” (bebaia, stable, fast, from bainō, to plant the feet down).
