They all wept sore (hikanos klauthmos egeneto pantò„n). Literally, There came considerable weeping of all (on the part of all, genitive case).
Kissed him (katephiloun auton). Imperfect active of kataphileò„, old verb, intensive with kata and repetition shown also by the tense: They kept on kissing or kissed repeatedly, probably one after the other falling on his neck. Cf. also Mat 26:49.
