This Chapter Verse Commentaries:
Whereupon (en hois). “In which things” (affairs of persecution), “on which errand.” Cf. Act 24:18. Paul made them leave Palestine (Act 11:19) and followed them beyond it (Act 9:2).
With the authority and commission (met' exousias kai epitropēs). Not merely “authority” (exousia), but express appointment (epitropē, old word, but here only in N.T., derived from epitropos, steward, and that from epitrepō, to turn over to, to commit).
