This Chapter Verse Commentaries:
That ye be renewed (ananeousthai). Present passive infinitive (epexegetical, like apothesthai, of alētheia en tōi Iēsou) and to be compared with anakainoumenon in Col 3:10. It is an old verb, ananeoō, to make new (young) again; though only here in N.T.
The spirit (tōi pneumati). Not the Holy Spirit, but the human spirit.
