A goodly child (asteion to paidion). Literally, “the child was goodly” (predicate adjective). Old adjective from astu (city), “of the city” (“citified”), of polished manners, genteel. In N.T. only here and Act 7:20, about Moses both times. Quoted from Exo 2:2.
The king’s commandment (to diatagma tou basileōs). Late compound for injunction from diatassō, only here in the N.T.
