This Chapter Verse Commentaries:

Humble yourselves (tapeinōthēte). First aorist passive imperative of tapeinoō, old verb from tapeinos (Jam 1:9), as in Mat 18:4. The passive here has almost the middle or reflexive sense. The middle voice was already giving way to the passive. See 1Pe 5:6 for this same form with the same promise of exaltation.

He shall exalt you (hupsōsei humas). Future active indicative of hupsoō, common verb from hupsos (height), used by Jesus in contrast with tapeinoō as here (Mat 23:12; Luk 14:11; Luk 18:14).
