This Chapter Verse Commentaries:
Called Mary (ephōnēsen Mariam). First aorist active indicative of phōneō. Out of the house and away from the crowd.
Secretly (lathrāi). Old adverb from lathros (lanthanō). To tell her the glad news.
The Master (ho didaskalos). “The Teacher.” So they loved to call him as he was (Joh 13:13).
Is here (parestin). “Is present.”
Calleth thee (phōnei se). This rouses Mary.
