This Chapter Verse Commentaries:
Because he saw his glory (hoti eiden tēn doxan autou). Correct reading here hoti (because), not hote (when). Isaiah with spiritual vision saw the glory of the Messiah and spoke (elalēsen) of him, John says, whatever modern critics may think or say. So Jesus said that Abraham saw his day (Joh 8:56). Cf. Heb 11:13.
