But ye cannot bear them now (all' ou dunasthe bastazein arti). The literal sense of bastazoĢ, to bear, occurs in Joh 12:6. For the figurative as here see Act 15:10. The untaught cannot get the full benefit of teaching (1Co 3:1; Heb 5:11-14). The progressive nature of revelation is a necessity.
