For they were all waiting for him (ēsan gar pantes prosdokōntes auton). Periphrastic imperfect active of prosdokaō, an old verb for eager expectancy, a vivid picture of the attitude of the people towards Jesus. Driven from Decapolis, he is welcomed in Capernaum.
