An only daughter (thugatēr monogenēs). The same adjective used of the widow’s son (Luk 7:12) and the epileptic boy (Luk 9:38) and of Jesus (Joh 1:18; Joh 3:16).
She lay a dying (apethnēsken). Imperfect active, she was dying. Mat 9:18 has it that she has just died.
Thronged (sunepnigon). Imperfect active of sumpnigō, to press together, the verb used of the thorns choking the growing grain (Luk 8:14). It was a jam.
