This Chapter Verse Commentaries:

As he was yet a coming (eti proserchomenou autou). Genitive absolute. While he was yet coming (the boy, that is, not Jesus). Note quaint English “a coming” retained in the Revised Version.

Dashed him (errēxen auton). First aorist active indicative of rēgnumi or rēssō, to rend or convulse, a common verb, used sometimes of boxers giving knockout blows.

Tare grievously (sunesparaxen). Rare word as only here and Mar 9:20 in the N.T., which see note.

Gave him back to his father (apedōken auton tōi patri autou). Tender touch alone in Luke as in Luk 7:15.
