Shealtiel dying without male issue, Pedaiah by the Levirate law married his brother's widow (-10; -28). Shealtiel was son of Jeconiah not by natural birth but by heritage only on his mother's side. ; , makes Shealtiel son of Neri, a descendant of David, through Nathan not Solomon; probably Jeconiah, (besides the Zedekiah in who died childless), had another son, Assir, who left only a daughter, who, according to the law as to heiresses (; -9), married a man of her paternal tribe, namely, Neri, of David's family in Nathan's line.
