Act 3:26. πρῶτον, first) A previous intimation as to the call of the Gentiles.-ἀναστήσας, having raised up) of the seed of Abraham.-παῖδα) Act 3:13 [His servant, not His Son, as Engl. Vers.]-εὐλογοῦντα, blessing) This is deduced from Act 3:25.-ἐν τῷ ἀποστρέφειν) Active: in turning away. Christ is He who turns away both us from wickedness, and ungodliness from us: Rom 11:26, “There shall come out of Zion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob.” It is a thing not to be done by human strength.-πονηριῶν) wickednesses, iniquities, whereby the blessing is impeded. Πονηρία denotes both wickedness and misery.
