This Chapter Verse Commentaries:

Luk 12:21. Οὕτως, so) viz. shall be.-ἑαυτῷ, for himself) for his own soul. See Luk 12:19; Luk 12:22.-μὴ εἰς Θεὸν, not toward God) It is not said, Θεῷ, for God, as ἑαυτῷ, for himself. Nothing can be added or diminished from the perfection of God [whether a man seeks His glory or not in laying out his wealth]. He is rich toward God, who uses and enjoys his riches in the way that God would have him [1Ti 6:17].-πλουτῶν, who acts the part of a rich man [who is in the enjoyment of wealth]) This denotes the state: θησαυρίζων, one who layeth up treasure, denotes the aim and desire [to be rich].
