The adjective τρόσκαιρος, taken alone, expresses somewhat good, but without perseverance; it is therefore followed here by the adversative particle δὲ, but, and in Mar 4:17, by εἶτα, afterwards.-θλίψεως, affliction) generally.-διωγμοῦ, persecution) specifically.[614]-διὰ τὸν λόγον, because of the word) when it is propagated by the mouth and expressed by the life.-εὐθὺς, immediately) That which is quickly produced, perishes quickly.[615]
