Mat 26:56. Τοῦτο δὲ ὅλον γέγονεν, but all this was done) St Matthew appears to have interwoven this periphrasis with our Lord’s words concerning the fulfilment of the Scriptures: cf. Mar 14:49.-αἱ γραφαὶ, the Scriptures) in the plural number. His Passion was the confluence of their fulfilments.[1157]
