Isa_51:16

And I have put My words in thy mouth

The seed-corn of a new world

The words in their mouth are the seed-corn of a new world in the midst of the old.

Commissioned, endowed, preserved

Like the first creation, the new is a gradual process, advancing from age to age.



I.
IN THIS WORK GOD EMPLOYS HIS SERVANTS. When it is said, “That I may plant,” etc., it is obvious that it is through Israel the work is to be 1Co_3:9).



II.
FOR THIS WORK GOD ARMS HIS SERVANTS. “I have put My words in thy mouth.”



III.
FOR THIS WORK AND IN IT GOD PRESERVES HIS SERVANTS. “I have covered thee,” etc. (W. Guthrie, M.A.)
