1Sa_14:36 And Saul said, Let us go down after the Philistines by night, and spoil them until the morning light, and let us not leave a man of them. And they said, Do whatsoever seemeth good unto thee. Then said the priest, Let us draw near hither unto God.
Ver. 36. Let us not leave a man of them.] Here he expresseth, say some, his excessive desire of revenge, his arrogancy, and his cruelty. He had an express command not to leave a man of the Amalekites, and yet he could spare many of them. {1Sa_15:7-8}
