17 But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.

Being taken away] Or separated, as orphans are from their dear parents, or parents from their deceased children, áðïñöáíéóèåíôåò . The separation of friends is so grievous, that death itself is styled no other than a departure.
